The 19th World Conference of the International Society of Family Law will be held in Istanbul, Türkiye from 9-12 September 2026, under the title “Family Law & Vulnerability”.
The conference is held on-site only, and English will be the conference language (proposals for panels in other languages can be considered).
Conference Theme
Family law encounters vulnerability in various forms, including socio-economic disparities, domestic violence, child welfare, and mental health issues. The conference explores vulner-ability in family law by examining the dynamics of power, agency, care or support structures and dependencies between spouses, partners, parents and children, and between extended family members. The conference welcomes international and comparative or interdiscipli-nary approaches to vulnerability in family law.

The deadline for submissions is January 19, 2026.
Participants are welcome to propose individual presentations or collective panels. Panels may explore various themes, including – but not limited to – the legal dimensions of differ-ential power dynamics present within society, with a particular focus on their impact on ac-cess to family justice.
Proposals should be prepared with a proposed title, an abstract of no more than 300 words, and the participant’s name, position, and affiliation. If the proposal is for a panel, it should also include the names and affiliations of all proposed participants.
